Field measurements and hydrodynamic analysis of estuarine circulation through Matlacha Pass, which connects Charlotte Harbor and the Caloosahatchee River basin. Shipboard and bottom-mounted ADCP measurements over ~20-hour tidal cycles, paired with Castaway CTD casts for salinity and temperature profiles along cross sections.
Co-authored study applying an Attention-based Dense U-Net (ADU-Net) to automatically segment tidal creek networks from 0.5 m aerial imagery across 255 km² of coastal Georgia marshland. The model achieved an F1 score of 0.98, replacing labor-intensive manual GIS delineation and enabling landscape-scale analysis of creek–marsh evolution driven by sea-level rise and grazer activity.
